MTIC by MIRDC recently engaged in a cross-border exchange with Japan’s ALAN (Aqua Local Area Network) Consortium, focusing on the advancement of underwater optical communication, unmanned systems, and intelligent sensing. This discussion was accompanied by representatives from JEITA, CIER, and MIRDC.

ALAN has already achieved underwater optical data transmission over 100 meters, a significant breakthrough in subsea communication. Their technology opens up possibilities for real-time monitoring, high-resolution data transfer, and wireless coordination of subsea devices. For MTIC, such capability directly supports the development of unmanned systems and integrated marine sensing platforms, reducing reliance on tethered cables while enhancing precision and autonomy.

We look forward to deepening cooperation with the ALAN Consortium, promoting joint innovation and real-world deployment in the field of blue technology between Japan and Taiwan.
