【MTIC News】TORI advances Taiwan’s ocean science and marine technology through indigenous innovation
Meet MTIC by MIRDC’s In-Residence Organization — Taiwan Ocean Research Institute (TORI)
The Taiwan Ocean Research Institute (TORI), under the National Institutes of Applied Research (NIAR), advances Taiwan’s ocean science and marine technology through indigenous innovation.
TORI specializes in the design, development, and validation of oceanographic instruments and underwater systems, supporting scientific research, marine engineering, and national marine surveys while reducing reliance on imported technologies. Its key developments include autonomous underwater gliders, a work-class ROV rated to 3,000 meters, broadband ocean bottom seismometers (BBOBS), and the TORI FOCUS automated microscopy imaging system.
TORI will leverage real-world validation of advanced ocean technologies, strengthening Taiwan’s maritime innovation through indigenous engineering excellence.
