【MTIC News】Offshore Engineering Center is Simulated Wind Loads with a Tension-Controlled System

The wind simulation system at MTIC’s Offshore Engineering Center (OEC) uses winches, tensioned cables, and controlled actuators to apply equivalent wind loads to scaled models.

The system can be configured according to different structural designs and test requirements, enabling controlled forces to be applied at designated locations and directions on offshore wind turbines, floating platforms, and other marine structures.

Integrated with the basin’s wave and current generation systems, it supports model testing under combined environmental loads and provides valuable data for design validation, stability assessment, and technology development.
