OPITO Courses
OPITO sets training standards for the offshore energy sector, including oil, gas, and now offshore wind. Their focus is on safety education and ensuring personnel know how to work safely at sea. For example, OPITO provides the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) for maritime engineering workers.
According to Taiwan’s offshore wind safety guidelines, anyone taking helicopter flights over 10 minutes, or using helicopters for offshore transfers, must complete Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET). If emergency breathing systems are needed on-site, training on those systems is also included. OPITO courses teach personnel emergency procedures during helicopter flights and how to use survival equipment.
OPITO’s standards are recognized worldwide in offshore industries and have helped reduce offshore accidents. Beyond oil and gas, OPITO also supports safety standards for offshore wind development, manufacturing, construction, maritime engineering, and operations.
