Q1: What is the MTIC and what does it encompass?

MTIC is a national-level innovation zone in Kaohsiung's Xingda Harbor dedicated to offshore wind and marine technology. It consists of three main pillars: MTD (R&D), MTC (Training), and OEC (Engineering).

Q2: What is the primary focus of the MTD?

MTD acts as an incubation and R&D hub. It focuses on indigenous technology for underwater structures, subsea cables, and unmanned vehicle inspections to support the offshore wind lifecycle.

Q4: What certification courses can I obtain at the MTC?

MTC currently offers a wide range of internationally certified courses related to offshore wind, covering areas such as wind turbine safety, maritime engineering, and operational skills. Key offerings include:

  • GWO Certified Courses: From basic safety to advanced technical training, including Blade Repair, Slinger Signaller, and more. Perfect for technicians and offshore workers.
  • OPITO Safety Training: Specialized courses for maritime and energy sectors, such as Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET).
  • NI Dynamic Positioning (DP) Training: Step-by-step courses including Induction and Simulator practice.
  • DNV Certification: Professional marine operations courses at two levels, aligned with DNV standards.
  • OEM Equipment & Technical Training: Hands-on sessions with leading wind turbine systems and equipment (e.g., Siemens Gamesa SGTT, Goracon lifts, Skylotec ascenders).
  • Tailored Entry-level & Experiential Training: Short, accessible programs for new employees, office staff, and students to quickly understand the wind industry.

Q5: Are the training courses available in languages other than Mandarin?

Yes, almost all of our courses (such as GWO BST & BTT, OPITO BOSIET & HUET, and Goracon Service Lift training, etc.) can be delivered in either Mandarin Chinese or English to better serve international technicians across the Asia-Pacific region.

Q6: Is there any specific eligibility or requirement for the GWO BST course?

Participants must be at least 18 years old. For safety reasons, the participant's weight must not exceed 120 kg. A valid WINDA ID is also required for registration.
