Introduction to Taiwan’s Intelligent Building Label (IB)
The Taiwan Intelligent Building Label (IB) was established by the Architecture and Building Research Institute (ABRI) of the Ministry of the Interior. It aims to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into architectural spaces. While Green Building focuses on environmental sustainability, Intelligent Building emphasizes high-performance capabilities in Safety & Disaster Prevention, Energy Management, Health & Comfort, and Premium Services.
According to statistics from the official Intelligent Building and Building Energy Efficiency Rating (BEER) portal, as of March 2026, the cumulative number of certified cases is as follows:

This achievement demonstrates MTIC’s national-level expertise in system integration, energy efficiency, and safety & disaster prevention through advanced smart technology.
The Eight Indicators of Intelligent Building
Based on the 2016 evaluation standards, an Intelligent Building consists of eight key indicators. MTIC has fully implemented the requirements for each indicator to ensure high efficiency and safety throughout the center’s operations.

Intelligent Building Grading System
Taiwan’s Intelligent Building (IB) grading is determined by the depth of technology and the level of intelligence integrated into the building. The total score, calculated across eight indicators, is 200 points. Buildings are categorized into five grades:
- Diamond: Score of 140 or above.
- Gold: Score between 120 and 139.
- Silver: Score between 90 and 119.
- Bronze: Score between 50 and 89.
- Certified: Meets all basic mandatory requirements.
The evaluation items for the eight indicators are divided into "Basic Requirements" and "Encouraged Items." Basic Requirements serve as the fundamental threshold and do not grant points. Buildings that meet all Basic Requirements but do not earn enough points for a higher grade are classified as Certified, and their certificates will not display a specific rank (e.g., Diamond, Gold, etc.).
